Privacy policy
What the Igloo app and this website collect, and what we do with it.
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Eskimo Software (“we”) makes the Igloo app for iPhone and iPad, and runs this website, our push notification service and the iglooirc.com IRC network. This policy covers all of them, including Igloo on a Mac. We don’t sell your information or share it with advertisers.
In the app
Your settings, passwords and chat history stay on your device, and we never see them. Igloo saves the key that decrypts soju notifications in your iCloud Drive and, if you use iCloud Backup, a copy of your settings too.
To unlock Igloo, the app sends us its App Store receipt, and we check it with Apple. We keep a record of your purchases and of each check, along with the IP address and device model used. Apple handles payment, so we never see your payment details.
Push notifications
If you allow notifications, the app sends us its push token, which we store so we can send occasional announcements about Igloo. To stop notifications, including announcements, turn them off for Igloo in the iOS Settings app.
soju encrypts its notifications before they reach us, so we can’t read them. Notifications from ZNC’s push module arrive as readable text, which we pass on to Apple to deliver. We don’t store either kind. To filter out duplicates, we briefly keep a one-way fingerprint of the token, network and chat.
On the website
The website doesn’t use cookies or analytics. When you post a feature request or vote, we store it with your IP address and a random ID from your browser, so we can allow one vote per request and stop spam. Requests are public; your IP address and ID aren’t. Your browser keeps that ID, your votes and your Pause snow choice in its own storage.
Other services
Apple handles App Store payments and delivers notifications. The IRC networks, bouncers and upload services you use see your IP address and what you send them, under their own privacy policies. Igloo also loads images linked in your chats straight from the sites hosting them, unless you turn off Show Inline Media.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep push tokens, purchase records, feature requests and votes until you ask us to delete them. Like most servers, ours keep standard request logs, including IP addresses, only as long as we need them to run and protect Igloo.
To get a copy of your data or have it deleted, email contact@igloo.app. Most of it isn’t tied to your name, so include something that helps us find it, such as your push token from Settings › Notifications › Token. Deleting the app removes what it stored on your device. Copies in your iCloud Drive stay until you delete them.
Children
Igloo isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
